The
Best and The Worst of Traffic Exchanges
A traffic exchange is a web service that you
become a member of and receive free traffic from. By joining you
agree to look at the sites of other members (decided randomly but
based on niches you specify during registration) and in exchange
other members will view your site.
Very early on in my Internet marketing career,
like many others, I was lured by the promise of traffic exchanges.
It's hardly surprising because the earliest realization you have
as a newbie is "I need traffic or I'm never going to
survive". Traffic exchanges have the appearance of being a
very real way to get visitors to your site, your web site stats
can attest to that.
The problem is, however, the traffic is mostly
worthless. Your time would be much better spent learning more legitimate
ways to grow your business. I speak from experience because I was
an active member of no less than.....are you ready?
21 traffic exchanges!
I would relentlessly click, click and click
some more to earn credits for my web site. I actually had a few
sites (not mine but affiliate sites) so used a rotator to ensure
they got equal exposure. I did this for about 6 weeks with the hope
I would build a thriving business...how naive I was.
But before you lose hope, there is 1 traffic
exchange that I am still a member of and it earns me credit every
time I open my Internet browser. It is the undisputed leader in
this field and one of the most popular sites in the the entire Internet:
TrafficSwarm
It's very easy to set up, has free and paid
memberships. Set it as your browser start page and earn visitors
every time you log onto the Internet and more every time you visit
another members site.
TIP 1: There
are other Internet marketing activities that are just as
worthless as traffic exchanges (TrafficSwarm
excluded). They include:
- Safelists
- Posting to FFA classifieds
- Owning an FFA classified
- Link farms
Yes, I tried all of these as well
;-).
